A while ago, I was tagged by Diamond at Dee's Reads to do this post on my TBR pile. This tag was created by Rachel @ A Perfection Called Books and Dana from Dana Square. I was horrified at having to give a close up look at my enormous TBR pile, but this is really such a cool way to examine them and look at other bloggers' piles!

How Do I Keep Track of My TBR Pile?
Well................................................................Um..................... Different piles of TBR piles in all honesty haha. This only applies to books I own and need to use soon for some reason (Others that I don't have but want to read or have but have no pressing need to read sooner than anything else go on my actual bookshelves, Goodreads shelves, and Amazon wishlists; Kindle books are almost solely review books and those all go on a calendar and/or spreadsheet). Currently, I have a pile of TBR books for I Heart YA Fiction, another 2 or 3 for Fresh Fiction, 2 for books I need to read for my honors thesis, 1 for books I need to read for class this semester (which include some YA books for certain papers I'm writing), and one for market research which consists mostly on NA books since I read a lot of NA manuscripts for my internships. That's not confusing at all right?

Is my TBR pile mostly print or ebooks?
*eyes numerous piles* *eyes Kindle app* Erm. Probably somewhere around 60% print, 40% ebooks. Roughly. Vaguely.

How do I determine which book from my TBR pile to read next?
Schedule of when it needs to be read takes precedence over most things. However, I typically like to just group them up in month release date, and if I'm ahead enough, I can give into my severe mood reading tendencies and just pick which I want to read first from that month's pile.I also prefer print books, so if I have a print of something, I will usually read it before an ebook if the release dates are close (because it seems to read faster that way for some reason). For school reading stuff though, those books trump absolutely everything, so those are first.

A book that's been on my TBR list the longest?

There are probably some older than this that I don't remember, but I know A Tale of Two Castles by Gail Carson Levine (Middle Grade) has been on my shelf (both physically and in my head) for years (like at least 8 in my head, 1 or 2 on my shelf). I love her books, but it's so hard for me to squeeze in books that have zero obligation for me to read in (because there's so many I have other purposes for reading other than pleasure, like ones for review or research).
A Book I Recently Added to My TBR pile?
This one sounded super funny, but I'm a bit nervous about the central girl versus boy story line. I'm worried it might be a little too gender stereotypical (but still hoping it won't be!).
A Book On My TBR Strictly Because of the Cover?
I seriously added this just because I think the cover is really cute. I read the synopsis when I added the picture to this post, and I definitely love the sound of it, but originally, it was just for the cover candy.

A Book on my TBR I Never Actually Plan on Reading?
I only noticed this one when the hype started up about the movie, but I'm so burnt out on this genre that if I EVER get to this, it probably won't be until like 50 years have passed. Plus, the synopsis just doesn't appeal to me that much. No matter how good or bad people say it is, I'm honestly most likely never going to read this.
An Unpublished Book on my TBR I'm Excited for:
(two-way tie)
Don't these covers look so pretty together?! I'm excited for Forbidden because it's looking at a time in history I have read very little about, and Talon because hello, Julie Kagawa and dragons, yes please thank you. I'm even more excited that I have ARCs of both of these, so no waiting.

A Book on my TBR That Basically Everyone Else Has Read But Me: (two-way tie)
I'm actually starting Fangirl in October, because a book club I'm in is reading it! So that's exciting! I'll get to Daughter of Smoke and Bone some day.

A Book on my TBR That Everyone Recommends to Me:
(three-way tie)
I own all of these, and I will read them eventually!

A Book on my TBR I'm Dying to Read:
I love this series, and I'm excited to see how it all ends!! Plus, I just love when author friends write a book together.
The Number of Books on my Goodreads TBR Shelf:
884. I actually wish I just had a giant list of all the books in my TBR pile that I own that I could just add to, but at this point, making a list like that would take forever.

I now tag:

I Love your answers. Major props for having all those mini tbrs and keeping To them. :)
ReplyDeleteI also addedMonstrous. Love the cover, and it seems like it's gonna be good. Ah I need to read Fangirl and daughter of smoke and bone too! ^_^

Looking at the currently reading on your sidebar stresses me out, I don't know how you do it. I'm the opposite of you. I hate print books! They take me forever to read. Mostly because I usually only read at night and it's a pain in the ass to read with a book light. I've been reading a print copy of Black Ice since Sunday and I'm barely on page 100, ugh!
ReplyDeleteI think the Maze Runner movie looks pretty good, but I don't ever plan on reading the book. Forbidden and Talon do look gorgeous side by side, I'm excited for those two.
Fangirl and Daughter of Smoke and Bone are two that I haven't read either.
Fun post!
Well that's impressive! You've got some good ones on both print and ebook piles.
ReplyDeleteI suck at organizing my TBR piles, either physical or in my Kindle library... And I agree, you NEED to read The Winner's Curse and Daughter of Smoke & Bone!!
ReplyDeleteI participated in this tag recently, it definitely needs to be a judgement free zone! I am currently reading The Darkest Minds and I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!

I'm so glad I'm not alone on those! I've tried to make spreadsheets for all my TBR piles, but it just doesn't work quite as well for some reason haha. Thanks for tagging me!! Also, I just noticed that I didn't add a link to your blog in the description. I'm so sorry about that! I'm awful at remembering to link things/thinking I already did but actually didn't.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I understand about the book light part. I've had roommates before where we had different night schedules and would have to use an annoying book light. This year, I just have housemates, so I am in complete control of the light. :) I hope Black Ice is still good, even if reading it is a struggle. I love the cover for it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! My life weirdly much more stressful when I don't have giant amounts of print and ebooks to keep me focused (not that it doesn't still take me forever to work through piles haha). :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to squeeze one of them in during winter break. It will probably be The Winner's Curse, since I would be too tempted to binge the DoSaB trilogy at once when I'll still have a big project to work on over break as well. But they will get read!!
ReplyDeleteYay! So glad you're enjoying it! And yes, I judgement free is so crucial to this post haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm a pile person too! It works, right? Plus, all the time we save in not organizing our piles we can spend reading :-)
ReplyDeleteOh oh it's okay a! I dothat to:P
