Top Ten Tuesday: Underrated Authors

 http://iheartyafiction.blogspot.com/
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and Bookish.

Below are authors who probably get recognition of some sort, but I think they deserve lots! Most have numerous books out, so I'm just featuring my favorite work of theirs below.

1.) Cassie Mae- She is a hybrid author, doing both traditional and self publishing, and she does a PHENOMENAL job of combining funny dialogue and absolutely adorable romances. I've only read How to Date a Nerd by her (other than loads of teasers and excerpts of other works), but I am working super hard on reading all of her other stuff.
How to Date a Nerd (How To, #1)

3.) Rachel Harris- Another author whose books are perfect for lovers of romcoms. She writes for both young adults and adults, so there's a great selection in her work. Plus, she's super friendly on social media.
A Tale of Two Centuries (My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century, #2)

4.) Vicky Savage- With beautiful descriptions and a swoony romance, her trilogy is one not to miss.
 Transcender: First-Timer (Transcender, #1)

5.) Kristen Tracy- This author has one of the most unique voices I've read. Her stories are bittersweet, but always with a strong line of humor throughout, and with just enough weirdness to be totally awesome. The covers are really cute, but the stories tackle some serious issues making the cuteness a tad misleading.
 Hung Up

6.) Sharon Cameron- I met this author at a book fest years ago, and she was adorable and sweet! She even complimented my shoes! I hadn't actually read her book at that point (side note: never be afraid to go to bookish events where you haven't read a lot of the authors' work. At the particular fest I'm mentioning, I had read exactly one book out of like 15 YA authors, but now, having bought some there and bought others I saw there later, several of them have ended up being favorites, and it makes me happy that I at least got to see them then). That was actually the case with her books. I didn't have the money to buy them when I was at the fest, but I went and bought them later and fell in love. She writes historical fiction, and the premise (based on a real person) behind them is so cool.
The Dark Unwinding (The Dark Unwinding, #1)

7.) Julie Cross- Another very well-rounded author! While I actually haven't read the series she probably gets recognized the most for (Tempest, Vortex, and Timestorm), I have read her self published work (the Letters to Nowhere series), and it is fabulous! She's also written a NA novel, and she has a book with Entangled Teen coming out later this year that I have grabby hands for!
Letters to Nowhere (Letters to Nowhere, #1)

8.) Talia Vance- The first two books in her Bandia series are insanely, crazy good. I know she's planning a third book, but I don't think it will be released anytime soon. Which, for those who haven't read her, is good, because that gives you plenty of catch up time. ;)
 Silver (Bandia, #1)

9.) Shana Abe- While this author has a big adult fan base, I feel like there aren't enough YA lovers who read her work. She wrote a YA spinoff series from another series of hers (that doesn't have to be read in order to appreciate the other), and it's SO GOOD.
The Sweetest Dark (The Sweetest Dark, #1)

10.) Rysa Walker- I was lucky enough to get a review copy of her book, Time's Twisting Arrow, a few years ago through a Goodreads group and since then, it has won an Amazon novel award and was republished through them as Timebound. The sequel is coming out later this year, and I've already pre-ordered it. For time travel fans, it's a great series to try.
Timebound (The Chronos Files, #1)

What authors do you think need some more recognition? Leave me your links so I can go find them on Goodreads!

I can honestly say I haven't read any of these. Some of the contemp ones are unread for that reason though. Will have to look into a few of the others though!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Weirdly, I think I like more underrated contemporary books than super hyped ones (not in every case of course, but I would say they definitely get the majority). But there are definitely strong fantasy/scifi/etc. ones that I love just as much as more hyped ones.

  3. I haven't read any of these authors! But I do have Rysa Walker's book Timebound on my Kindle so hopefully I'll get to read that soon. And I'll have to check out some of these other ones!

  4. I've heard of a few of these and they are great choices. I have the Julie Cross NA on my list to get too. I liked Juliana Stone's cross into YA fiction, Boys Like You, and Kim Culbertson's Catch a Falling Star for CR, but in fantasy I like Amanda Karen Hooper, JF Jenkins, and Ashley C. Harris. Those are the lesser knowns that I can think of.

  5. I agree with you about Rachel Harris and Julie Cross. The rest I haven't read. One of my picks would be Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard. I adore that book so much and it sucks that not many people have heard about it or read it.
